I wanted to pop in and say hello, and also update you:
1 - I traveled. I, a used-to-be travel enthusiast, now flying novice, went on a whirlwind trip to Egypt and Jordan with my beloved cousin. I just got back! Here’s one of my favorite photos from Petra:
2 - On the way home, as I was in the air, one of my sons was having emergency surgery for a nasty break in his leg. I came home, sick (thank you to the guy in 18C for coughing on me for 12 hours!) and jet-lagged and ecstatic to see my family, and especially to hug my baby boy. It was torture knowing what was happening to him, and having no power to be near.
We have our hands full as we attempt to re-enter into homeschooling (and I re-enter this time zone!) and adjust to supporting my son’s healing, as a family.
This cast is preaching a whole sermon: complete healing takes time. Healing patiently but firmly demands adjustment.
Are parts of life preaching to you right now? Are you listening? What is the message?
If you’re the praying kind, please lift up a prayer for me to submit to the wisdom that healing teaches, and turn off (or at least turn down) the noise of desperation and scarcity. More writing will come as I adjust to this new rhythm.
When Hannah was 2, she was playing on the bunk bed ladder. Amber, 4, decided her sister should get off and made sure it happened. So at 2, Hannah had a spiral fracture in one leg. This resulted in a cast that covered the whole leg and part of the other leg with a bar between the two! Patience was definitely learned that summer in Indiana.
WOW!!!! I love love love that you got to take that trip with your cousin! Maybe 1% jealous and 99% ecstatic for you!
And will so be praying for you baby - and everyone else will who be tasked with lifting his spirits. I hope the resilience of youth will help with his healing and his outlook during the healing. Also, having just gone to my orthopedist on Monday because of some knee pain, can I tell you how different his x-ray (the knee part) looks from mine? Lots of nice spacing between those bones. Me - we're really close to some bone on bone action. Oh to have the knees of our youth again. #glorifiedbodies #cantwait
Love you, friend! Big hugs to all the Stevens family.
